Water Safety Training (WSI)
Learn to teach swim lessons and promote water safety in your community!
Carroll Recreation Center is an authorized provider of the American Red Cross and offers certification courses for Water Safety Instructors (WSI).
This course prepares participants to teach all ages and skill levels how to swim and stay safe in and around the water.
Course Format
WSI certification is offered in two formats:
- Classroom-based instruction
- Blended learning format, which includes:
- Approximately 7 hours of online coursework to be completed independently at home
- 23.5 hours of in-person instruction, including land and in-water teaching skills
The total course time is approximately 30 hours and 25 minutes, not including breaks for meals or changing between pool and classroom sessions.
