Flash Wiggins: Photographer of Baseball’s Golden Age with M.L. Williams – May 14

Just in time for baseball season, this author visit is perfect for fans of local history, baseball, and baseball history!

Author and former journalist Myron Williams will be live and in person to talk about his recently published biography, “Flash Wiggins: Photographer of Baseball’s Golden Age.” Myron, a young reporter for the Carroll Times Herald, met Flash for an interview in 1976. What followed was a friendship and a series of interviews with Flash and his wife.

Flash Wiggins was one of the last photographers who was allowed to take pictures on Major League baseball fields during games in Chicago. He was a photographer at both Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park from 1927 to 1968. The short stories in William’s book include Flash’s adventures with baseball players (including famous ball players that everyone will recognize), his experiences as a maître ‘d in Chicago night clubs, and how much he and his wife (a native of Templeton) enjoyed their life in Carroll.

Myron will have autographed copies of his book for sale after the program, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Carroll Public Library in Flash’s honor.
