On
August 8, 2006 the citizens of Carroll voted
and approved a measure to authorize the
Carroll City Council to issue $2,960,000 in
bonds to construct an outdoor aquatic
complex within the City of Carroll.
On
October 16, 2006, after reviewing proposals
and presentations from numerous aquatic
architectural and engineering firms, the
City Council hired Burbach Aquatics, Inc. to
design and engineer the new outdoor aquatic
center.

After technical analysis and site
evaluation of 14 potential locations by Burbach Aquatics, Inc. and public input, the
Council chose to locate the outdoor aquatic
center along 11th Street and
Forest Street east of Des Moines Area
Community College (DMACC).
In the coming
weeks, the Council will decide on the final
design of the outdoor facility with
construction to begin in 2007. It is
anticipated the facility will open in 2008.
